Lysine is mainly used as feedstuff additives, food enhancing agents and pharmacy.
1. Used for food industry
Lysine is one of important compositions of protein. The body requires Lys which is one of eight essential amino acids, but cannot synthesize it so it must be provided in the diet. As lacking Lys in the diet,
therefore is called “the first essential amino acid”. For a good enhancing agent, to add lysine into rice, flour, and can will rise up the rate for utilizing protein so that it can enhance food nutrition greatly.
It is also efficient dietary supplement in improving growth, adjust appetite, reduce diseases, and make body stronger. It can deodorize and keep fresh in tinned food.
2. Used in pharmaceutical industry
Lysine is available for formatting compound amino acid infusion and making effection better than hydrolytic protein and less side-effect. It can be made nutritional enhancing agent with various vitamins and glucoses, and is easily absorbed in gastrointestine after oral.
Lysine can also better performances of some drugs and improve their efficiency.
Application
For broilers: an increase in feed consumption and in body weight gain; and an improvement in feed conversion and in meat quality.
For layers: an increase in feed consumption and in body weight gain; and an improvement in feed conversion, egg production, the duration of the laying period, number of eggs, egg weight, egg shell stability and the colour of the yolk.
For turkeys: an increase in feed consumption and in body weight gain; and an improvement of feed conversion and in meat quality.
For piglets and pigs: an increase in feed consumption and in body weight gain; and an improvement in feed conversion and in nitrogen retention. Particularly with pigs, its use allows an improvement of the meat quality (e.g. an improvement of the protein content of the muscle "longissimus dorsi").
Finally for dairy cows, it allows an improvement in feed conversion, ruminal fermentation process, protein utilization efficacy, milk production and the content of milk constituents, protein and fat. Note that the three last improvements are due to the stimulation of the bacterial growth.
